Air Source Heat Pumps
Air Source Heat Pumps represent a sustainable heating option, suitable for almost all households. It utilizes the outside air to generate heat for the heating system inside the in a much more efficient way as compared to traditional heating systems.
What are Air Source Heat Pumps?
Air source heat pumps are innovative and eco-friendly solutions that heat your home and hot water. A heat pump captures heat from outside and moves it into your home. It uses electricity to do this, but the heat energy delivered to your home is much more than the electrical energy used to power the system. This not only translates to significant cost savings on heating bills, but they’re also a nod to a greener planet with minimal carbon emissions.
How do Air Source Heat Pumps work?
An air source heat pump, also known as an air-to-water source heat pump, moves heat from the outdoor air to water, which is then used to warm your rooms through radiators or underfloor heating. Additionally, it can heat the water stored in a hot water cylinder for your household needs like hot taps, showers, and baths.
Air source heat pumps are typically installed on the exterior of buildings, commonly found at the side or back. They draw in heat from the surrounding air and use a compressor to amplify it before releasing the heat into your home.
Air source heat pumps can generate heat even when outside air temperatures are as low as -20°C. Despite the air being cool, there is still a significant amount of energy (heat) generated because of the substantial volume of air flowing over the heat exchanger.
NOTE –
Prior to the installation of air source heat pumps, it is essential to insulate your property to minimize heat loss through walls, floors, and the roof. If heat easily escapes from the property, the air source heat pump will need almost double the amount of electricity to produce and maintain the required warmth.
Why Choose an Air Source Heat Pump?
- 01 Energy Efficiency: ASHPs provide an energy-efficient alternative to traditional heating systems, reducing your energy consumption and carbon footprint. Although they run on electricity, they have a 300% efficiency rating, which means for every 1 unit of electricity used, an air source heat pump generates 3 units of heat.
- 02 Cost-Effective: Lower energy consumption means lower utility bills. Investing in an ASHP can help you save substantially on heating costs and overall energy consumption, making it a cost-effective solution in the long run. Check the average annual savings table below for the numbers on potential savings for an ASHP. They are also quite easy to maintain with low maintenance costs.
- 03 Environmentally Friendly: ASHPs utilize renewable energy from the air, making them environmentally friendly and promoting sustainable living. Reduce your reliance on fossil fuels and decrease greenhouse gas emissions with this green heating solution.
- 04 Year-Round Comfort: Enjoy consistent indoor comfort throughout the year, with the ability to provide both heating and cooling as needed. Say goodbye to the hassle of switching between different systems for different seasons.
- 05 Easy Installation: ASHPs are relatively easy to install, especially when compared to complex geothermal systems. Our team of experts ensures a seamless installation process, tailored to suit your home's unique requirements.

The amount of savings depends on various factors such as your current heating system, the size of your property, and local energy costs. You can see potential annual savings after installing a standard air source heat pump, including any recommended radiator upgrades, in an average sized, three-bedroom semi-detached home, below.
Absolutely! ASHPs are designed to operate efficiently even in colder climates, extracting heat from the air to warm your home. They can work efficiently in temperatures as low as -20 C.
Step 1 Contact Us
Call Energy Funding Service 0300 30 20 221. We will check to see if you / your property qualifies, what products and funding we can allocate to you. Once we have all your details, we will be able to connect you through to a Domestic Energy Advisor.
Step 2 Assessment
Once we have identified whether you qualify (usually within 2-3 working days), we will then arrange a free assessment at your property to identify the products we can install for free. This will be conducted by a qualified assessor.
Step 3 Processing Application

We normally process the application within 1-2 working days. Once processed this will be sent to our installer that is PAS2030 qualified (Government Qualification) for that specific product.
Step 4 Installation
Installation of your new products. This last stage will be complete usually within the same day. The products you are having will be up and running for you to enjoy and start saving money. All the measures installed are for you to keep you do not have to pay anything back.
Yes! All the products installed come with standard warranty and we provide necessary repair / maintenance services.
The inside unit for a split system only contains valves and pumps and makes very little noise at all.
In terms of the outside unit, Noise is created by large fans moving air across the heat exchanger. Unless the heat pump is working very hard (i.e., in cold weather or producing high temperature water), you can expect the noise to be a similar volume to a fridge, if you were standing within a couple of metres. As it gets colder outside, this noise will increase while it’s operating.
